

Raymond Lee Hornsby, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on September 9, 2011 at home in San Leon, Texas surrounded by love and prayers during his last hours on earth. He was known by all for his many accomplishments and love of ball room dancing, cooking, and spending quality time with family and friends. He was a loving, caring, and gentle man, and all he met loved and admired him dearly. Ray was born January 19, 1924 in Fort Worth, Texas. He served in World War II in the Army division and received an honorable discharge, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired after 36 years from Shell Oil Company in 1983. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Ruth of 29 years; father Raymond Grady Hornsby; mother, Ethel Lee Duke Hornsby; and step grandson, Ryan McIlvane. Ray is survived by his sister, Claudine Hall; son, Bruce and wife Julie Hornsby; daughter, Lisa and husband Richard McIlvane; stepson, Richard and wife Lana Chapman; four grandchildren, Justin and wife Jenn; Lindsay, Grant and wife Barbara Garnett, and Lauren; step grandchildren, April and husband Niel Wilson; and four great grandchildren, Kailee, Grant, Marshall, and Rylee, as well as many other family members and lots of friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. in The Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Forest Park East Cemetery. www.ForestParkEast-FHC.com
