Richard Barajas, 74, of Friendswood, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus on October 22, 2020. Richard was born May 10, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois to Adrian and Celia Barajas. He was married to Virginia L. Barajas for 24 years and had a wonderful life together. He was a retired police officer with the Chicago PD. He worked hard with the department for 27 years, always helping others, especially the youth. Richard had the biggest heart in the world and would give his shirt off his back, even if it was his last. Being in the police force, he was involved in politics and the community. He had numerous awards, even one for saving a firefighter's life!
Richard was involved in his church and his family. He loved to travel to Sedona, Arizona and to Monument Valley which were often the background of the old movies he loved to watch. Richard also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Cubs. He was a very generous man and his legacy will continue to live on through his family.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his devoted wife Virginia Barajas; sister Sandra Diaz (Polito); brother Edward R. Barajas; children Orlando Mendoza (Lupita), Liz Mendoza, Lorena Garza (Robert), Bryan Mendoza (Erica), and Alex Mendoza; grandchildren Krystal Kissell (Mark), Angela Mendoza, Andrew Mendoza, Victoria Mendoza, Nicolas Mendoza, Hailey Mendoza, Esther Garza, John Garza, Aaron Garza, and Diego Mendoza; great-grandchildren Logan, Caleb, and Araceli; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Richard will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas with a committal service will follow.
