Richard Fawcett, a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away on October 18, 2026. He leaves a lasting legacy of love and a meaningful impact on the many lives he touched. Born in Workington, England, Richard was the son of Dixon and Patricia Fawcett.
Richard’s life was defined by service to others. After serving in the British Army’s Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), he emigrated to Canada and later settled in Houston, Texas. Houston became more than the place he lived; it was the community in which he built lasting relationships, shared his practical knowledge, and made himself available whenever someone needed guidance or a helping hand. He mentored others and encouraged them to become their best selves, offering the same honesty, resourcefulness, and steady support that he brought to every part of his life.
Richard’s commitment to learning never waned. He earned a master’s degree from Athabasca University, regularly tackled home improvement projects, and enjoyed honing his cooking skills for family and friends. Those closest to him knew he is dependable and a family man that could fix, build, or solve almost anything while remaining steadfastly devoted to the people and principles he valued most—and that if they asked his opinion, he would give it honestly and directly, just as he believed it should be.
Richard was raised as a Mason in Gray Lodge #329 and was also affiliated with Clear Lake Lodge #1417 and several other Masonic bodies. These communities embodied the loyalty, service, and fellowship he valued deeply and reflected in the steadfast support he gave others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dixon Fawcett, and Patricia (Adams) Fawcett.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene, with whom he shared 17 years of marriage; his children, Josh Fawcett and his wife Liah, Michelle and her partner Drew, and Ryker Fawcett; his brothers, Nick Fawcett and Clair, and Jason Fawcett and his wife Natalie, and their families.
Richard loved his family deeply and leaves a lasting impression on everyone whose life he touched through his service, steadfast loyalty, and unwavering honesty.
A masonic service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Gray Lodge #329, 2370 Barker Oaks Dr., Houston, TX 77077.
