

Richard Lee Gaskin was born in Houston, Texas, on July 23, 1950. Richard was raised with love, guidance, and strong family values. Preceded in death his beloved guardians Inez “Nina” and Raymond Allen, his birth mother, Audrey J. Childress; and his brother, Joe H. Gaskin.
Richard graduated from Worthing High School in 1968. Following high school, he continued his education at Texas Southern University Houston, and San Jacinto College, Pasadena, Texas.
Richard was baptized at an early age. He became a member of St. Augustine of Hippo Episcopal Church in Galveston, Texas where he served as an altar lector and on the Building Restoration Committee. He was a faithful and active member until his death.
Richard proudly answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Coast Guard, where he served honorably as Electronic Technician, 2nd Class from 1970 to 1973.
After completing his military service, His dedication to education and his strong work ethic led him to a rewarding career at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. During his professional career, Richard worked with various organizations and entities associated with NASA, serving in positions including Project Engineer and Systems Engineer. He took pride in his work and in contributing his knowledge and expertise to the nation’s space program. Richard earned numerous awards and accolades throughout his accomplished career.
Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, family member, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, dedication, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Alicia Gaskin; His children: Tuesday Smith (Kevin), Moleshay A. Williams, Nysia D. Gaskin-Hadley (Byron), Marshall Bennett (Keosha). His grandchildren: Markus L. Barnett, Kayla D. Smith, Cory D. Smith, Treyveon D. Prater, E. Kamron Byrd, Andres Hadley, Angelo Hadley, and Emery L. Bennett;
His great-grandchildren: Kasen, Maverick, Colbie, and August Barnett;
His surviving siblings: Donald R. Gaskin Sr. (Quinella), Gail M. Allen, Michael A. Norsworthy, and Roselyn F. Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and cherished friends.
Richard’s presence brought love, strength, and memories that his family and friends will carry with them always. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and all those whose lives he touched.
Richard Lee Gaskin will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
