Richard C. Leonard, 67, of League City, Texas passed away on December 4, 2018. He was born in Hammonton, New Jersey on February 8, 1951 to Ernest and Rose Leonard. He was married to Fusun Leonard for 26 years.
Richard had a career in aviation as a pilot. He graduated from Hammonton High School in 1969 and shipped immediately to Vietnam from Paris Island. After returning from the military, he pursued his flying career, starting at Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He got his first wings with Eastern Airlines.
He also owned and operated a flight training school in Houston called TACT; Texas American Crew Training. This is where many pilots got their ratings and are now flying for major airlines. He also did contract jobs in different parts of the world, which consisted of VVIP flights, where he was the VP of Operations. Richard helped many companies get their air worthiness certificates and planned and performed their proofing flights until his retirement; which he hated!
Richard was a strong-willed man who had integrity and strength that was admired by all. He loved his wife and daughter unconditionally. He will be deeply missed!
He is survived by his loving wife, Fusun Leonard; daughter, Courtney Leonard; and brother, Ernest Leonard and his family.
A visitation for Richard will be held Monday, December 10, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598, followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 pm.
