Robert Evans Arnette III

Robert (Bob) Evans Arnette III passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at home after an extended illness. Bob was born in Watertown, New York, October 21, 1942, while his father taught at West Point. His family moved to Texas following his dad's military career in San Antonio where Bob graduated from, Alamo Heights High School, and then earned a college degree at North Texas State University Denton, Texas. He was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity.

Bob and Susan Wilkinson (Suzy) married in 1963 and had two children named Scott and Mignon. They lived in Waco, and later Kingwood. Bob moved to the Houston Clear Lake area where he was involved in the Texas Association of Social Sailors (TASS) for nearly 40 years. He made many lasting friendships with his fellow sailors, sailing American waters and overseas. Another organization, dear to Bob, was WADE, with the goal to teach children water and boating safety in the Clear Lake area. Bob was also involved with the still existent Sailing Angels program.

Bob is preceded in death by his father, Robert Evans Arnette, II, his mother Dorothy Jean Nipper, and his son Robert Scott Arnette. He leaves behind his first wife Susan Wilkinson, brother Richard Arnette and his family, daughter Mignon Schoettelkotte and SP Todd, granddaughter Haley, grandson Grant and SP Cassidy, wife Judy Monthy, stepdaughter Laura Monthy and step-granddaughter Sophie and stepson Garrett Monthy SP Kathleen, and step grand-children Isis and Godric.

Those of you who knew Bob knew how sociable, kind, helpful, cheerful, and loving he was. If you needed help, you knew you could call upon Bob, and he'd happily show up. He made you feel welcome. He wasn't above doing crazy and silly things to make you laugh. Judy loved the little things he would do to show he cared for and appreciated her. Doing little things like bringing her coffee, doing chores she didn't care to do, fixing things around the house, helping with her parents, who loved him immensely ... this was Bob, generous, giving, quick to help.
