

After serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as Military Police, he received his degree in Criminal Justice at Troy University in Troy, Alabama. He joined the Harris County Sheriff’s Department in 1981 and retired in 2009. He spent most of his 28 years with the Department in the Classification Division at the Harris County Jail, where he was recognized for a number of awards and citations for his commitment to his work and his dedication to the Department and his fellow deputies.
Roger will be remembered for his love of life that he shared with his family, friends and coworkers. He truly believed in “A Duty to serve, an honor to protect”. He loved fishing, rock-n-roll, playing the guitar, the Crimson Tide, the Texas Longhorns, and John Wayne.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, KD and Johnnie Anderson and brother, David Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kathi Anderson. Brothers, Ken and his wife Sue Akridge and Randy and his wife, Lisa Anderson. Sisters, Carolyn Maddox, Betty Kirkland, Gail and her husband David Mullinax. Daughter, Brynn Anderson, stepdaughter, Michele Johnson, stepson, Jason Averett. Grandchildren, Kayla, Sarah, Jacob, Cameron and Joel. Mother-in-law, Erna Grieder, brothers-in-law Byron Johnson, Keith White, Jeff Grieder and Marc Mecklenberg. Extended family members and loving friends.
Burial will be at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Enterprise, AL. A Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Park East in Webster, Texas, date and details pending.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Roger’s memory to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Care Team, Inc.
