Ronald Joseph Isley II
August 21, 1964 – April 6, 2019
Ronald was called to Heaven on Saturday April 6 to be with Our Heavenly Father, his parents Ronald and Pearl, his brother Rodney, his Uncles Rudy Minarcik and Richard Isley, his Aunt Maxine Wrobleski, his Grandparents Rudolf and Clara Minarcik and Lloyd and Elizabeth Isley.
Ronald leaves behind his sisters Donna Jones and husband Dean, Kimberly DuHart and husband Larry, nieces Aimee Jones, Candace Prowell and husband Tim, Jessica Harris, Saige DuHart, nephew Keenan Jones and wife Shelley, great nieces Emilie, Catherine, Olivia, Emily, great nephews Ethan, Cooper, Jonas, Noah, his Uncle Alex Wrobleski, Aunts Rose Minarcik and Pat Isley and many cousins.
Shorty (Ronald's family nickname) loved his last name and asked everyone he came in contact with if they knew the Isley Brothers (the famous singing group). Some were startled and others said "Of course"! I can't tell you how funny he thought that was; I heard him countless times recite that question. Shorty loved his country and our American flag. Years ago, he was an avid bike rider, riding many miles a day. Shorty was known to sit daily for hours working on word search puzzles, he wrote furiously in notebooks (we thought he was writing a novel), he wrote letters to family and friends, tinkered on anything that "wasn't broken", enjoyed relaying current events, listened to country music on his radio, enjoyed old sitcoms, and he loved helping those in need at his residence. Sweet tea was a must; he made tea almost daily for himself and his neighbors. He was a part of the Rides program in Pasadena and visited the library often. Shorty made a friend in the school bus driver just by waving at her on her daily route and the same with a man on his motorcycle as he passed by daily. He always closed our trips with "Thank you and I love you" to Dean or I. Shorty's life was a simple life filled with a routine.
I would like to thank all of our family members and friends who took the time to respond to Shorty or talk with him when he called. Also a special thank you to his nurse, Abel Gamez RN at MHMRA, his caseworker Helen at MHMRA and staff, his doctor Jimmy Doan, MD and staff, Marilyn Bates RN, his service coordinator at United Healthcare, the dental staff at El Corazon, Lubor Jarolimek MD, his orthopedic doctor and Don Briand and staff at the Village Shoe Shop. Shorty was so appreciative of their care and kindness. A soul is at rest and a mind at peace. All our love to you Shorty.
