

Roy Lee Connell, age 90, passed away January 27, 2021. Born August 9, 1930, to Marshal Leroy Connell and Joe Eddie Terrell Connell in Dubberly, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, three sisters, and a brother.
Roy is survived by wife Joy Faye Garriss Connell; son Mike Connell and wife Paula Key-Connell; daughter Patty Wilson; daughter Kathryn Braddock and husband Robert Braddock; daughter Tracy Connell; daughter Rachel Connell; ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Roy graduated from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 1951, with a double major in Biology and Agriculture, plus his teaching certificate. During that period, he served in the National Guard.
He spent two years in the Korean War as an Army Preventive Medicine Technician, which made entomological surveys of military areas and supervised application measures to control diseases.
Roy met Joy when he returned home in 1953, they married September 3, 1955.
Seeking better opportunities, they moved their growing family to the Houston area in 1964. Roy pursued additional education while simultaneously working as many as three jobs. In night school at the University of Houston, he completed all the necessary courses to make a career change to Accounting.
Roy had a legendary gift for numbers. His work as an accountant was exceptionally accurate, in the era before computers. In his latter years, he turned his numbers skills towards investing in the stock market, and was a successful options trader to the end of his days.
A family visitation for Roy will be held Monday, February 1, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. Private family service and committal will follow.
