Over Thanksgiving weekend, Doyle and I were eating at a “Cajun” restaurant in Dickinson. It was ok..but I saw a sign hanging up and teared up. We called Ruben “Big Roux” sometimes just for fun. I will truly miss him..I just loved Ruben being around and of course his food with all the love. RIP Big Roux!

Losing a family is never easy. While I mourn your loss, I will always remember the beautiful, kind, and selfless person that you are. Ruben, you touched many lives and I am thankful to have been a part of your short life on earth. Farewell cousin, I will see you again in a better place one day.

Ruben was such a great and best friend to the family. My family was glad that he became part of our family and will miss him. He was creative with his foods and the way he season it. He would always ask “if it was too hot or to spicy”. My family would say no it just right. He was also very bright and funny person to be around. He was person with a lot of laughter and sit there forever tell jokes, clown with or just have silly conversation and sit back and laugh at the most random stuff anyone can ever think of. Ruben was also the type of person had generous heart and was one kind person that the family and I got to know. This earth will never be so colorful with out him and he will be greatly miss.
Rest In Peace Ruben. Your spirit will forever live on in all of us! Even though your gone, you will never be forgotten.

This is a man that step in my life married my mother took me under his wing at 2 years old, he has been a great leader, father, and he was one of the best cooks and seafood boiler ever. He was always there for our family in all circumstances he never left or gave up .I am truly blessed he was apart of my entire life. He was a great coach . He would sign us up in anything that’s going to better ourselves such as sports ect. He would light up our house on Christmas and get us the best gifts possible.. He definitely taught us the definition of a working man. I thank God that this man raised me. I remember the first time he signed me up for football I was 9 and a chubbie little man and he encouraged me and show me how to be tough I always tryed to get better so he would be proud of me and I know through my ups and downs in life I know before he passed he was so proud of me .I love you man I’m still growing and getting better. Rest in heaven thank you for everything

When I think of sweet Ruben, I always see him smiling. Every memory feels like a bear hug, fullness of heart, and fullness of tummy (from his wonderful cooking).

Ruben was such a good guy, so welcoming. I'm sending love to him with a big, warm hug, and toasting his journey home.

May God heal and comfort his family.

Ruben was THE BEST big brother!! He was everyone's protector and he was always doing something kind and generous behind the scenes. He loved family and friends, food, and living life to the fullest. His smile invited everyone in and there isn't a person he encountered that didn't totally love him! It's going to be a lot quieter without him and definitely not as much fun... I love you always, brother.
