Ruth H. Gann

Ruth was raised on a rural Mississippi cotton farm. She grew up and married her Linn High School sweetheart, Bobby Spencer. They moved to Houston in 1961 where she continued to raise her children and later worked and retired from Houston Lighting and Power. After Bobby’s passing she met her 2nd husband, Earl Gann while attending a Sagemont Singles Bible Study class.

Ruth was a very caring and loving person. Most every person she met was touched by her kindness and jovial ways. Her spirit lifted everyone and her laughter was contagious. She liked to stay busy and volunteered at the Sagemont Church library, she worked at the information desk at Memorial Herman hospital, and she often drove friends to church, for errands, and sometimes to the tea room.

Ruth enjoyed traveling, oil painting, playing the piano, her 3 granddaughters, and her Sagemont Church family. Ruth loved to read and preferred to stay busy. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts, floral arranging, sewing & crotchet, oil painting, jigsaw puzzles, and in the last years she enjoyed diamond bead painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband and father to her children Bobby Theron Spencer; second husband Wilbur Earl Gann and twin sister Anne Morgan.

She is survived by her three children Charlotte Medina and her husband John, Beverly Anne Nelson and her husband Patrick, and Robert Dale Spencer and his partner Luis Useche; 3 grandchildren Candice Nelson Chang, Adrianna Medina, and Amanda Medina Melofsky; 2 great-grandchildren Isla and Piper Chang; her sister Sue Poates; nieces and nephews along with numerous Gann family members, church members and friends.

A visitation for Ruth will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service to start at 10:00 a.m. and a committal service to follow. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the family.
