Aunt Ruthie was one of the sweetest women I ever knew.  She has now gone on to be with her Billie Boy as she always called him.  My prayers are with all of the family.  Love to you all.

Papo's Granny~ I deeply miss you! There are so many things that I will always remember about our time together and will cherish forever. Thank you for loving me so much. 
I will always remember our Saturday mornings watching cartoons while drinking coffee (actually warm milk with sugar and a little coffee). I remember the loving pats on the leg or backside, and your loving generosity. I remember the way you so lovingly used your switch or paddle. I am sorry you had to spank me so many times and it only took Papo one time. The time it was time for Dukes of Hazzard and you made me take 3 baths because there was no way i could get clean that fast.I remember our walks and talks in "the country".

I wish I were more elequent with my words, but I love you and want everyone to know how wonderful you are! i thank God he took you so swiftly and peacefully. I know you are whole and rejoicing with Our God!

As I read some of the earlier posts, it made me laugh and made me cry. there are so many things that remind me of granny. I think of her when I eat fried fish, even though no one's will ever be as good as hers, when I put clothes in the laundry~ she always told us that if we didn't turn our socks and clothes right side out, it said we did not love our mother...if we lied she would hang a devil mask over our bed...she always had wrigleys spearmint or big red gum...she helped teach us to love and respect our mother's... she helped teach us to love. She also wanted others to love her grandchildren the way she did.

Sherry, Rick, Angela, Chet, Rowdy, and families (& to all the family):  I know that you know Mrs. Ruth has been rescued!!  PTL - no longer is she held by the bonds of illness or anything negative in this world!!  We all look forward to the day when we can be where she is and see her sweet face again.  I am praying for each of you as you go thru these next days without her significant presence!!  Be comforted in knowing you loved her well...and she returned that love abudantly!! Granny...We miss you so much already.  There are so many things that remind me of you daily.  You made so many good memories with us all and we will keep you in our hearts always.  I laughed yesterday when Kyndall told me she thinks of you everytime she makes a bed.  She said you always said don't hide the wrinkles under the comforter, straighten them out, because if you don't, it's like hiding lies.  I think of you everytime I see a hummingbird because you loved them and taught us all how to make their sugar water.  Your skin on your arms is what I will miss most.  I wish I could rub your arms one last time.  Your firm pats of love on our arm, back or back side will be missed too.  I remember you always had gum in your purse and you would give me the whole pack when I asked if I could have one for me, Mama, Daddy, Clay and Boyd.  You taught us girls how to be a loving wives. I think of you every time Kyndall puts her hands in her mouth and I have to tell her not too.  You always told us we would get worms if we didn't get our hands out of our mouth.  You also told us we would get worms if we ate the dinner rolls before they were cooked in the oven.  I believed you and I catch myself telling Kyndall the same thing.  I think of you when I'm baking and I lick the spoon.  I can hear you saying "don't you put that spoon back in the batter!"  You and Papo were a fairytale in our eyes.  I only hope Billy and I can live as long of a fairytale as you did.  We will always love you.

To a family who has meant so much to me and my family. I salute you with all respect as you lay to rest your lovely Ruth. She and I connected, because she was willing to bring me in. Her giggle, blended with mine as we laughed at somethings that happen in life, and somethings we just made up. Whether we were on the swing, at the beach, in her home or mine, she and I laughed together. What a joy! I will miss her, greatly. All this is not about me. Rather the love she showed, some of it just fell on me. Blessed with a life time with her love for you all. And, here is a picture of my mom.  The picture was cropped from one taken at a grandson's wedding in June of 2004.  
I guess when when we went to the funeral home, we were not as prepared as i thought we were.  I did not know that the picture would be used and made bigger; we have better pictures.  However, all preparations that really matter have been in place for a very long time.
Momma knew Jesus Christ as her personal Savior; her trust was in Him.  A day and a half before we were at the funeral home, making arrangements for the 'tent' that she left behind, she was already HOME.  God came for her and it was a surprise to all of us.  She had health issues that had already taken so much of her life here, heart failure, diabetes and dementia.  The dementia took so much away from her and all those who love her AND all those that she came into contact with that never knew the 'real' person within her.
i will say that during her sickness, she was the best patient that i have ever been around.  Her sweetness became sweeter and sweeter.  That does not happen often in cases of dementia and alzheimer patients.
God's mercy and grace has been poured all over and through our family.   He is good, all the time!
We will miss her being with us for the rest of our lives; we have been missing her communication with us for a long while.  We will see her again and it will be under such wonderful and amazing circumstances.  We will be in the presence and audience of The Almighty God, our LORD.  We will be joined with all of those who have gone before us, the angels.....all who sing HOLY, HOLY, HOLY..... in one accord, with such understanding!  and, WOW
I am the oldest of her three children, Sherry.
Her husband of 67 years and 9 months is left behind at this time.  His trust is in God for the remaining time on this earth; he will do as God leads Him.  They knew each other all of 13 days when they married.
Our Momma loved her children, Sherry, Janis and Damon (we just could do no wrong).  When we each married, she loved Ronnie, Ricky and Beth as her own.  If anything did not set well with her from another person about any of us, beware!  She did stick up for us very verbally.  Her love was unconditional and partly blind.
Her grandchildren, the same way.  She would 'go to bat' for any and all of them at any time.  She would give sacrificially, maybe to a fault. Listed in order of birth: Boyd Ranton, Chet Stovall, Clay Ranton, Rowdy Stovall, Angela Stovall Phillips, Jill Harrison Batson, Jennifer Ranton Creighton, Holly Harrison .
Ah, and the great grandchildren.....Emily, Tanner and Taylor, Kaytlyn, Sierra, Hayley,  Cameron, Madison, Cole, Hayley and Preston, Tori, Ella, Avery, Link, Penny, Levi....out of order.  SHE LOVED THEM.

Ruthie...an amazing woman...you were a force to be reckoned with and a gentle soul all at the same time.  I will always remember your laughter and the warmth you showed to everyone who entered your home.  Your beautiful family misses you, but they too one day will all fly away and rejoin you as one of God's angels.
