She was born in Evanston, Illinois to Terence and Janet Keane.
Shona was born in the outskirts of Chicago, Illinois and lived there for the first few years of her life. In her early childhood her family relocated to Akron, Ohio where she made many lifelong friends that she was able to reconnect with over the years. She was an only child and spent many summers with her cousins, one of her favorite activities has always been watersports such as water skiing. Shona always loved swimming and being in the water. In her adolescence, her family relocated to Houston, Texas. She graduated from South Houston High School in 1982. She became a mother that same year to her eldest son Roy. She would go on to have a total of six children: Roy, Travis, James, Brandon, Noelle and Kierra. Shona’s greatest joys in life were her children and subsequent grandchildren.
Shona was a kind person and loved deeply. She was as stubborn as they come and had a hard time admitting when she needed help. If you told Shona you liked Star Wars, you were sure to always get a Star Wars themed gift for Christmas/Birthdays—even if it had been years and maybe Star Wars wasn’t your whole world anymore—she would always remember you loved Star Wars.
Shona was an avid creator. She loved canning and sharing her mustards, pickles and jams. She was also a talented seamstress and loved hand making and selling her embroidered
Trinkets and purses. She just truly loved putting her love and time into things and being able to proudly give/gift them to her loved ones. When she wasn’t creating things, she enjoyed visiting the gym for early morning workouts and felt invigorated by constantly challenging her physical limits. Another hobby was just spending time with her grandbabies, she was the best grandma.
She was preceded in death by her son James Cook, her father and mother Terence and Janet Keane.
She survived by her husband Tony Cook, her children Roy Espinoza, Travis Cook (Nereyda), Brandon Cook, Noelle Padilla (Hector) and Kierra Cook, her grandchildren Savannah and Kylie, Alysonn and Juno.
