So, sorry I won't be able to be there for the service. I will always remember the good times our families had together.My deepest sympathy to you, Mike, Rick and Cindy.

Dear Mary Lou,  after the initial shock of Sid's suddenly passing away,
we have been thinking fondly about all the nice memories we have of  him . When I first met him on Dow site in Stade, I had heard that they were having problems in Start-up of  his plant (as every start-up has). But, he was so positive  every thing will work out that I didn't even offer him my help! That's the kind of man Sid was; always positive , always smiling , always interested in other people! No wonder,  he was liked by every one who came across him.

 We want to express our deepest sympathy for your loss.  It seemed we knew you and Sid for only a short time but it seemed as if we had known you forever.  We look back on our fun times going to the concerts.  Sid had an enormous grasp of the Bible and we all profited from him sharing this knowledge. 40 years ago I had the privilege of reporting to Sid in an international environment. Sid was an excellent rolemodel for our crew, not only as a manager but as an American gentleman with a broad cultural insight, wit and understanding.
I always enjoyed visiting with you and Sid over the years whereever you were, and I'm proud to be counted as one of your friends.
I shall always remember Sid as the perfect gentleman that I had the pleasure of seeing for the last time early May this year.

Dear ML, Mike, Cindy, Rick, & Family:  Although Life and Death are  key events in our existence, death of a love one/friend is a sad event. I share deeply in your sadness/grief upon the loss of Sid...close friend for over 60 years.   Reviewing, we were both returning young vets in the late '40's that got introduced by random selection to be lab partners in a chem lab course in UT- Austin.  We hit if off easily and in the near future became room mates in a student room located over Watson's florist on the drag at 26th.  In the years to come, you came into his life and I lost my roommate, but got to be best man at your wedding.  If I had any signficant  regrets, recovery was fast and as far as I felt, we ALL developed a close relationship that is the longest, closet, most compatible friendships of my  life.  

It's easy to find a lot of adjectives that defined Sid...easy to meet, easy to like, lots of smart (more than myself!), great sense of humor, good looking, articulate, kind, not easy to upset...recall that once ,while driving both of you in  your rather seasoned automobile  thru the narrow roads of the Austin City Golf Links I carelessly made "kindling" out of one side of an oncoming vintage/wood panel station wagon with the left fender/bumper of your car...Sid seemed not the least upset and made his typical  humorous remark!

I am sure I could find a lot more fitting words, but will close.    Over the years we visited dozens of times in many locations as we both moved around the USA, Mexico, Europe, Austrailia, and so on.   All fun...generating lots of memories, pictures, notes, etc.  Ironically that we were plannig to meet in Austin a few days ago for the 90 th birthday our favorite UT ChE prof, Dr Mcketta.  A little more sadness and disapoointment in that  that we did not make it...I got my usual birthday call from Dr M this past Saturday and we had a warm conversation about Sid. I look foward to seeing all of  you Saturday to participate in recognizing the life of truly great person whose memory I will always cherish.  Love, Brazier

Dear Mary Lou and family,  Please know how very sorry I am for your loss.  I always loved that you and Sid touched so many lives at LCUMC and that you and he were in our SS class.  Sid had a great sense of humor and really knew how to make folks think twice about things. Mary Lou, Sid was a wonderful man. Chuck and I always enjoyed his humerous stories. A really great person to have as a friend. We missed you from the moment you moved and are terribly sorry to hear about his passing.

I have had the joy of knowing Sid for over 35 years, since shortly after he returned from Australia with Mary Lou plus their young family.  We both worked at Dow Chemical and eventually worked together for Dow in Stade, Germany.  My wife, Marianne was also at Dow, and she met Sid when he came to Europe.

Sid was a great guy, a true southern gentleman with a great sense of humor: optimistic, positive and straight as an arrow. It was a great privilege to know Sid and an even greater pleasure to have him as a friend.

We will both miss him, but he will live on in our memories and our hearts.
