Susie M. Garza

Maria De Jesus Mendoza Garza, our Mother, passed from this life to her eternal rest on August 9, 2012. Our Mother was born to Josepha De La Cruz Mendoza and Enemencio R. Mendoza in San Antonio, Texas on April 13, 1924.

Our Mother was the youngest of four children and was reared in Galveston, Texas where she attended public school. Her parents moved to Hitchcock, Texas, and she helped them in their family business for several years.

Mother met her husband, Ramiro Garza, at a dance in Wharton County just before the outbreak of World War II. Our Mother loved to dance and anyone that knew her will attest to that. Mom and Dad wrote to each other while he was serving in the U.S. Army and she agreed to wait for him and they were married on September 30, 1945. She was a most beautiful bride and they were very happy, making their home in Alvin, Texas.

Our Mother had six children and all survive her. Jesus Ramiro Garza, Sr., wife, Maria Canfield-Garza, Maria Irma Fogarty, Consuelo Erasmo (Razz) Garza, wife Shirley, Juan Manuel (Johnny) Garza, wife Rosemary, Hector Garza, wife Diane, and Ramiro Garza. All her children live within two counties. Our Mother is also survived by twelve Grandchildren. Jesus R. Garza, Jr., Pamela Joanne Knoblock, Patrick Mathew Garza, Timothy Luke Garza, Abran Soria, Jr., Arthur Lee Soria, Matthew Ryan Fogarty, Lori Michelle Laiche, Melissa Garrison, Damian Hector Garza, Stephanie Rheanne Garza, Bianca Deanne Garza. Our Mother is also survived by six Great Grandchildren.

Our Mother lived a full and blessed life, she loved to her greatest capacity, and she was loved by all her children as well. She leaves a legacy of love, caring and sacrifice for her children and all her family. We carry her love in our hearts forever.
