Taylor Ray Leavelle, born July 20, 1995 in Texarkana Texas. Taylor passed away too soon on November 10, 2025, at the age of 30. Though his life was in marked by challenges, those who knew Taylor will remember him most for the brightness, curiosity, and gentle warmth he brought into their lives.
Taylor’s childhood was magical — a time of wide-eyed wonder, music, and endless afternoons of exploration. He carried that sense of curiosity into adulthood. Taylor began his college journey at Texas State University in San Marcos and went on to graduate from the University of Houston–Clear Lake with a degree in computer engineering and a minor in cybersecurity. As a promising and talented software engineer, he built a career at a prestigious Houston law firm, Vinson & Elkins, where he was advancing and doing well.
Taylor’s passions were many and varied. He played guitar and mandolin with an easy, soulful touch; he rode skateboards and surfed with fearless joy; he collected precious things that reflected a careful eye for beauty; and he loved solving problems through elegant code. Recently, Taylor had moved into a lovely apartment in the Post Oak/Galleria area of Houston, a place where he was putting down roots and looking toward the future.
He is survived by his mother, Sarah Hanby; his father, Lincoln Leavelle; his daughter, Violet Leavelle; and many others who love him deeply. Taylor’s presence — his laugh, his songs, his thoughtfulness — will be profoundly missed by family, friends, and colleagues.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 22 at Forest Park East Cemetery at 2:00 pm. He will be interred some time later. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends and loved ones upload photos of Taylor to : https://connect.dignitymemorial.com/s/BdXIA3EDIr9MmRxzH0a5UgqkYE7hY6Dyr88FHF77HI and join them in remembrance at the memorial service.
Taylor’s life was a mosaic of music, motion, curiosity, and strength. May his memory be a comfort and an inspiration to all who knew him.
