He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Hugh Lathem and Elizabeth Neely Lathem; and his beautiful wife of 55 years, Edna, who passed in 2009.
Thomas was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy. He took pride in refereeing football, basketball and baseball. Thomas retired from the Aerospace field as a computer programmer. Thomas will be missed by everyone that knew him especially his family.
Thomas is survived by his children, Hugh Lathem and wife Kim, of Humble, Texas, Ruth Shumway and husband Doug of Lewisville, Texas, Elizabeth Lathem and Charles Hartman of Dickinson, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Warren and wife Amelia of South Carolina, Kerri Cook and husband Charles of League City, Texas, Lesley Lathem, Alexandra Shumway and Griffin Shumway, all of Lewisville, Texas and Levon Bailey and Lena of Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Karrie Lynn Cook, Hailey Cook, both of League City, Connor Warren of South Carolina; sister, Christine Kebert of Lubbock, Texas; and last but certainly not least, his dog, loving companion and friend, Scooter; along with many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Forest Park East Funeral Home, Webster, Texas, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted at Forest Park East Cemetery, at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, September, 21, 2010.
