

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Roy Steelhammer.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in law Emily Steelhammer and Elvis Méndez; his granddaughters Camila Méndez-Steelhammer and Maristela (Gigi) Méndez-Steelhammer; his sisters, Carlie Case and Linda Eliason (brother-in-law Ross Eliason); his nieces, Erica Eliason and Gina Dvorak and nephew, Travis Mims.
“Pop-Pop”, as he was affectionately known to his beloved granddaughters, was a loving father and doting grandfather who took every chance he could to visit his granddaughters.
He relished telling stories, cooking for others, sharing recipes and talking about memorable meals. He loved reading, metal detecting and hunting. He was a proud Air Force veteran who enjoyed spending time with and supporting other veterans. As a fierce animal lover, Tom took care of the neighborhood stray cats and made a loving home for his cat, Mollie, and dog, Rosie. Tom was gregarious, generous and kind-hearted. He will be dearly missed by friends, family, neighbors and all whose lives he touched.
A Visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, US, on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. followed by a Celebration of Life from 2pm to 3pm.
