Vida Juanita Wheaton Johnson, long time resident of Pearland, Texas, passed away April 20, 2019. She was born in Wells, Texas on October 2, 1931; daughter of Bruce and Vida Wheaton. Juanita grew up in Kildare and graduated as the valedictorian of the Class of 1949. She married George S. Johnson in June of 1949 and they lived and loved for fifty years; sharing joys and sorrows. After retirement, they traveled throughout the United States.
Juanita received her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1962 from Stephen F. Austin University; graduating with highest honors. Her Masters of Science was completed at Sam Houston State University in 1968. She had a twenty-four year career as an educator; she enjoyed teaching her students cooking, sewing and needle arts skills. Juanita was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Juanita thrived being a wife and mother; her home always reflected love. Her passion for needle arts filled any spare time. Crocheting and knitting were favorites but she could make almost anything from plastic canvas; and everyone has a quilt!
