Wayne was born in Trafford Pennsylvania in 1931 and proudly served his county in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1954 and was active duty during the Korean War. Upon completing his service, he attended The University of South Carolina, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. A loving husband to his wife of 64 years, Shirley M. Eaton, Wayne and Shirley met on a blind date in the early 1950’s and married in 1957 at Fairview Baptist Church in North Carolina.
After graduation, Wayne worked with Western Electric in Greensboro, North Carolina prior to moving his family to Nassau Bay, TX in 1964 for employment with the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) at Johnson Space Center. His 32-year career with NASA spanned all major spacecraft programs, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, Shuttle and Space Station Program. Most of his responsibilities centered around Life Science and payload integration projects with national and international scopes.
Wayne was dearly love by his family and friends and is survived by his wife Shirley M. Eaton, son Phillip Eaton, son Greg Eaton, his wife Audrey Eaton and their children Chase and Blake Eaton. He was predeceased by their oldest son Wayne Arthur Eaton, Jr. his brother Alfred John Eaton II (Jack) and his parents Alfred John Eaton I and Esther Pearce Eaton.
