

He was born in Cedartown, Georgia on December 28, 1938, to Wendell Holmes and Myrtice Lucile Britt. He was married to Melanie Burke Britt for 66 years.
Gene had a career as a lab analyst and lab supervisor for Ethyl Corporation and Albemarle. He was a member of the NRA and had a passion for hunting, fishing, as well as collecting knives and guns. He hunted on the same deer lease in Blanco, Texas for over 40 years and had many wonderful memories with family and friends that he would take to the lease with him. Gene also had an affection for his horses he raised over the years. Especially his horse Dan, who won many ribbons in horse shows.
In his previous years, he enjoyed boating and being on the lakes in the hill country. He worked many long hours to make sure we had vacations with family and friends every summer on the lakes in the hill country. Many wonderful memories were made and will be cherished in our hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by Wendell Holmes Britt (Father), Myrtice Lucile Britt (Mother), and Janice Britt Barton (sister).
Gene is survived by Melanie Burke Britt (wife), Wendell Keith Britt (son) and wife Lecel, Darla Britt Jones (daughter) and husband Bobby, Jana Lynn Britt (daughter), grandchildren, Ryan Britt, Lauren Chambers and husband Justin, Kristin Jondle, Brittany Stanfield, John Jondle III and wife Mindi, Andrew Gebauer and wife Julia, Hannah Whitley and husband Tyler, Rachel Iltis, Krista Iltis, great grandchildren, Landon, Morgan, Madison, Nathan, Malori, Aidyn, Jaxon, Macy, John IV, Maeve, As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
