

William Eugene Jobe, Sr., born April 30, 1933 in Amarillo, Texas went to be with the Lord January 20, 2017. His life spanned the hardships of the Great Depression to the conveniences and privileges of the present day, and was as varied as the times in which he lived.
He started his career as an aircraft engine mechanic for the U.S. Navy; a job which he loved, and remembered with great fondness. After his discharge from the Navy, he went to work for Knolle Farm’s accounting office while getting his accounting degree at University of Corpus Christi now Texas A & M at Corpus Christi. Upon graduation, he started working for the U.S. Navy Audit office out of San Diego, California. From there, he went on to work for NASA, and had a fulfilling career as a lead budget analyst and financial manager for the Center Operations Directorate for Johnson Space Center during the height of the space race, Apollo missions and shuttle programs. His next and equally fulfilling career was in law enforcement, working for the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Friendswood Police Department, County Constable, and as Chief of Police for Bayou Vista.
He was a member of Friendswood United Methodist Church and part of the Christians in Action class. He was delighted to serve by handing out hearing aids and helping church members who needed hearing assistance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Roscoe Jobe and Mary Lou Gamblin Jobe.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen W. Jobe; son, William E. Jobe Jr., and wife Laurie; daughter, Jerri L. Jobe; grandchildren, Freda Crawford and husband Brian, Timothy Jobe, Heather Barrios and husband Jaime; great-grandchildren, Angel Marie Crawford, Donovan Echlin, Carol Morales, Ashlie Barrios, Aleq Barrios; brother, Larry Jobe and wife Sandy; nephew, Matthew Jobe and wife Megan; great-nephew, Aiden Jobe; great-niece, Rylee Jobe.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598. Funeral Services will be Celebrated Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Friendswood United Methodist Church, 110 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546. Interment to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
