Emmett Mullins was born on August 25,1944 in Woodville,Texas, and went to his reward in heaven on March 25, 2024 in Channelview, TX. Emmett was raised on a farm where he learned the value of hard work, planning and getting to the dinner table on time. Emmett married his best friend and love of his life, Candy Turner, on February 25, 1966. Whether attending church, traveling, running errands or simply being at home, they spent as much time as possible by each other’s side.
Emmett was admired for many things including his work ethic. At the time of his passing, he was still employed full-time as an 18 wheel truck driver delivering hydrochloric acid. He also worked as a welder, small business owner (striping parking lots and garage door services) and a project manager for operations and sales.
Even though he worked tirelessly to provide for those he loved, Emmett always made time for the thing he enjoyed most; spending time with family and friends. Whether at a ball field, recital hall, holidays or birthday parties, you could always find PaPa there loving, and cheering on, his grandkids. He also enjoyed spending time with friends. He and Candy would often speak by phone, meet for meals and travel with “the gang” (several of Emmett’s former high school classmates as well as Candy’s childhood friends).
Known as a construction, mechanical and woodworking genius, Emmett could literally build a house from the ground up and he used these talents to help all around him. No job was too large or small; if you needed Emmett, he was there.
Emmett was preceded in death by his parents, Elisha and Elsie Mae Mullins. His sister, Estelle, and brothers Floyd and Vestor.
He is survived by many relatives including his loving wife of 58 years, Candy, as well as his adoring children, in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren:
Daughter, Donna Yates (Jeff) and their children: Reagan Yates (Elizabeth); Morgan Waterman (Jack); Madeleine Bazhaw (Christian) and Chloe Yates.
Son, Darin Mullins (Diane) and their children: Destiny Barajas (Tyler); Dustin Mullins (Courtney) and Dakota Mullins (Marley).
Great-grandkids: Kynlee Ann and Haley Mullins and Daniel Barajas. Sisters: Margaret (Bud); Cookie; Ruth (Elton) and Doris. Brothers: Kenneth and Lloyd (Audrey) as well as dozens of cousins, nieces and nephews.
To know Emmett was to love him. He was an amazing, Godly man who will be dearly missed here on this earth. We hold fast to the promise that we will see him in heaven…what a glorious homecoming reunion that will be.
