He was predeceased by his parents Austin “Ozzie” L Rose Jr and Mary Louise (Ferreira) Rose, his sister Anna Noreen, nieces Anna Noelle and Abby Rose Booth and nephew Brian Dumont. Andy attended Cape Tech for 2 years then transferred to Provincetown High School. He graduated in 1982. Andy joined the Navy just out of High School. He was assigned to the USS Pigeon and was stationed in San Diego. He earned a Good Conduct Award, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and a Battle “E” Ribbon during his 4 years of service.
Throughout the years Andy enjoyed, photography, model trains and gardening. At one point he had a train going through most of his house. He had a beautiful smile and a heart of gold. He was very handy and would help anyone in need of plumbing, hauling stuff, tiling or anything else. He was employed at Bayberry Gardens for many years where he was treated like family.
He is survived by his siblings: Austin and wife Dawnne, Leo and wife Tracey, Mary H. Rose, Timmy and partner Linda, Glen and wife Jen, and Janice and Ray Roderick all of Truro; Diana and Kevin Duarte of Mashpee; and April and Bill Booth of Guilford CT. He is also survived by his Godchild Holly Rose Lamarco (Chris), nieces and nephews: Eve Dorr (Kyle), Simone Rose, Leo Rose Jr (Arielle), Joseph McKinnon, Heidi Hanson, Nicole Conrad, Rebecca and Kellie Blome, Richard Rose (Amy), Kelsey Eggleston (Andrew), Shannon, Riley and Kevin Duarte; Austin, Sadie and Thomas Booth, and Devin and Carmen Roderick, along with several great nieces and nephews.
Andy will be greatly missed. He struggled the later part of his life with mental illness. It gives us comfort knowing that he is at peace. A private burial with a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please support mental health at Gosnold Behavioral Center in Hyannis at www.gosnold.org, or www.duffyhealthcenter.org or the American Heart Association at www.heart.org in his honor.
