A Poem by Carol Baldwin

Hard autumn rains have soaked and darkened tree trunks velvet black and made their branchlets droop. Stirred by winds, leaves sail down from high like golden birds, to fade and die, like summer memories passing.

Carol Baldwin was my friend in NYC
In the 80's she was my subtenant in Soho
We continued our friendship after she moved on
We visted Carol in Truro , it was a beautiful experience joining her in Truro walking from her house to the sand seeing the Dunes .. Carol loved swimming, loved the light on Cape Cod ... she was always energetic enthusiastic ...loved painting dancing ... My families thoughts are with the memory of Carol & our shared experiences ...

Carol was an exuberant spirit, a dancer, an artist, a woman full of energy. She took care of her Mom who had Alzheimer's. She was colorful and passionate and looked great in flamboyant clothing, esp. her Russian fur hat. Her paintings, photographs, and writings were impressive. She wrote poems, and more recently a Memoir. We remember her big show a few years ago at the Wellfleet Library with several outstanding and haunting paintings. Her love for her dogs was legendary, esp. for the little Dachshunds. Despite a progressive cancer, her last months were peaceful, in good care at Liberty Commons in Chatham. We will miss her and hope only that she is in a better place now where there is no pain and no worry. With loving thoughts from her friends Elisa & Nick
