

Carol Ann (Grimaldi) Nickerson, age 85, a resident of Truro, passed away on May 18th, 2025. She was the daughter of Helen Fressola and Antonio Grimaldi and was born in Springfield, MA. Carol was the beloved wife of Richard “Nick” Nickerson who predeceased her. After having traveled and lived in Europe for almost 8 years, Ms. Nickerson settled on the Cape living in Provincetown then eventually Truro for over 50 years. She retired from working for the Town of Truro as Administrative Secretary for 23 years and was also the interim Town Administrator.
While living abroad, Ms. Nickerson was employed by Daimler-Benz in Stuttgart, Germany in their public relations department. Also, while living there, she developed and conducted tours to part of both Eastern and western Europe to help bridge the communications gap for American Military living there. She was also the social director while living on military bases arranging gala parties, fashion shows and other festivities. On weekends she and her then husband Frank Antal, would pack up the children and visit Switzerland and Austria to expose them to different cultures.
Ms. Nickerson was an avid golfer and played in the Thursday Ladies League at the Highland Links golf course with her friends. Although a high handicapper, she achieved “4” hole-in-ones. Carol also was chair of the Golf Course Advisory Committee, was a volunteer driver for the Cape Coed Volunteers, volunteered at Cape Cod Hospital and the Truro Library. She was also a former member of the Provincetown Nautilus Club.
Carol loved to get together with her friends for birthday or just getting together for lunch and dinners. She was also an animal rights activist and supported many organizations who helped the cause. Besides golf, she enjoyed gardening and was a voracious reader and could be found with a book in hand.
Ms. Nickerson leaves behind a daughter, Joan Antal and her husband Alan Feltham of Hyannis, her sister-in-law Linda Grimaldi of Meriden, CT, her aunt Beth Haluszka of Maine and stepchildren Christopher Nickerson and wife Cindy of Maine, Dean Nickerson and wife of Truro, Rebecca Nickerson of Truro, Lindsay Nickerson of Truro, Rick Nickerson and his wife, Karen (Nickerson) and her husband in Maine. She also leaves her granddaughter Jessica Nickerson of Maine and Shyloe Neizman of Washington and Maui, as well as many great-grandchildren. Sadly, Carol was predeceased by her brother Alfred Grimaldi and her daughters Kimberly Antal, Nancy Antal and Michelle Antal.
