Dorothy A. Sanderson

She graduated in 1966 from Provincetown Highschool and was most proud to be co-captain of the girls basketball team which won the Class B Championship of S.E. Massachusetts girls tournament in Abington, MA on 2/26/1966.

In 1972 she married Russell Sanderson and they moved to Truro where she had her son Casey A. Sanderson in 1977.

Dorothy Worked for 23 years at Pilgrim Variety on Commercial St. in Provincetown along with her sisters Cathy and Jeanne. At the same time, she started attending aerobics classes and got certified as a fitness instructor. Once the store was sold she was employed at Muscle Beach, working the front desk and leading the spin and aerobics classes for 17 years. The Provincetown Council on Aging hired her to run a senior fitness class once a week enjoyed by all, lots of laughter and singing. She had travelled to China and Italy, and enjoyed crocheting and photography.

Dorothy is survived by her sisters Susan Souza and Charles of Salem, NH, Cathy Fritz and Ken Segura of Provincetown, MA, and Jeanne and Mark Worley of S. Dennis, MA; her brothers Edward and Donna Fritz of Duanesburg, NY, and Joseph Fritz of Braintree, MA; as well as 10 nieces and nephews

Dorothy was predeceased by her son Casey Sanderson, and her sister Mary Fritz Haire of Florida.

Dorothy spent the last 3 and a half years in the memory care unit of Regal Care in Harwich, MA, where everyone was so kind and caring.

Dorothy's burial will take place Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Cemetery in Provincetown.
