Born in Provincetown on June 12, 1936, to the late John and Matilda Jason, she was a true daughter of the Cape who carried the spirit of her hometown with her throughout her life. Ethelmae was a beautiful woman, both inside and out, who always took great pride in her appearance. With a perfect complexion and a sweet smile, she possessed a natural warmth that could light up any room. She was known for her kindness and was always happy to listen to a friend or relative in need.
Professionally, she was highly respected for her tireless work ethic, serving the Town of Provincetown in the Treasurer's Office for many years. While she was dedicated to her work, Ethelmae’s true calling was her family. She was a devoted mother whose children were her number one priority. She supported them in every endeavor, from cheering on her son John at his sporting events to celebrating her daughter Melia's scholarly achievements. Her youngest daughter, Terrie, provided her with much laughter and love. Ethelmae made her home a warm and open place, always welcoming her children's friends as if they were her own. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as knitting and crocheting with her sweet Aunt Ethel or visiting her parents' neighborhood grocery store, Tillie's.
She is survived by her beloved husband of many years, Daniel White; her son, John White and his wife Betty; and her daughters, Melia Jenkins and husband Mark and Terrie Martello and her husband Joseph.. She will also be fondly remembered by granddaughters Sarah White Smith, Jaclyn Blauvelt and grandson Rene Blauvelt and great-grandaughter Gianna Blauvelt. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Margaret Jason, and her brother John Jason, Jr.
A woman of deep faith, Ethelmae was a longtime member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
The family would like to thank everyone for their care and concern during Ethelmae's long illness, with special thanks to Attentive Homecare and VNA Hospice for their compassionate support. Donations may be made to either of these organizations in Ethelmae's memory
