She was born on September 30, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was one of 9 children and the oldest girl. Evelyn’s family moved to her mother’s hometown of Provincetown soon after her birth. She was a graduate of Provincetown High School, Class of 1968.
Evelyn loved living in Provincetown and the surrounding areas. Even when living away, her heart remained in Ptown. She loved to laugh and had a profound sense of humor. She was inherently kind and empathetic to others. She was artistic and loved hearts and angels… EVERYWHERE. She possessed the ability to strike up a conversation and connect with anyone, and she genuinely cared about and remembered what others shared with her.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Christian Peters and husband Joseph, Chad Costa, Erin Purcell and husband Sean, and Travis Costa. She is also survived by five siblings and their spouses, Christopher Ward, John Ward and wife Judy, Susanne Cook and husband Christopher, Eileen Grosso and husband Peter, and Dorothy Morris and husband Paul.
Greeting her in love on August 25, 2025 were her parents, Joseph A. Ward, Evelyn Amaral, and Ronald Amaral, and her siblings, Joseph Ward, Carol Ward, and Marianne Ward.
