It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Jean Fuller Bagley, on April 1, 2023. She died unexpectedly at her home in Dennisport, Mass. She was born on Feb.11,1953 to W. Nelson Bagley Jr. and Jean MacDonald Bagley. She spent most of her childhood in Avon, Ct. She is survived by her brothers Michael Bagley and wife Patricia, of Wellfleet, David Bagley of Tulsa, OK, and Peter Bagley and wife Susan, of Burlington Ct.. She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jean was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by her family, her many friends near and far, and by all who knew her.
After graduation from Bard College, Jean moved to Provincetown in the mid 70's, where she lived for many years. She fished with her brother Michael for several years, and loved being on the water. She worked for J&E Produce and was a bookkeeper for Napi's Restaurant. She worked at the Eastham Veterinary Hospital for several years. Jean was a lover of animals all her life. She had many dogs, but her true love was her pony Candy, who gave her so much happiness for 20 years. In 2000, she went to work for Ducky Noons at J.F. Noons in Truro, where she stayed until the present time, as much a family member as an employee. They feel her loss deeply. Her job description of office manager hardly describes her time there. Jean forged many close friendships with employees and customers alike. She was a mentor, a problem solver and built many a "bridge over troubled water". She, like her father, did everything with integrity.
In 1985, Jeanie moved to Orleans to live with her mother and lived there until 2012. Jean M. Bagley died of Alzheimer's in 2011, and Jean was her constant companion and caregiver during the last few years of her life. During that time, she took up the bagpipes and became a very proficient and skilled piper. She joined the Highland Light Scottish Pipe Band and played with them for many years, eventually becoming pipe major. She taught many aspiring pipers for years. She also became very proficient at Pibroch, and won many awards at the Scottish competitions.
Jean was a consummate quilter, seamstress and embroiderer. Her quilts and tapestries made wonderful gifts for so many of her relatives and friends. The quilts sometimes took her months to make. They will be reminders of her love and thoughtfulness.
Jean, and her family, were always grateful for the prompt and excellent care that she received from the Dennis Police and the Fire and Rescue Department. Donations in her memory may be made to the Dennis Firefighters Association Inc., at 883 Main St., West Dennis, Mass. 02670.
