Kathleen F. Connors

July 30, 1945September 13, 2020

Kathleen Forrest Connors, 75, of Wellfleet, Massachusetts died peacefully on September 13th at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She leaves her husband John, their Son Sean of Foxboro, Gregory of Chatham, and daughter Jennifer of Chatham as well as 5 grandchildren, Sean, Rebecca, Emily, John, and Rory. They will hold her in their hearts forever. From a large family, she was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1945, and was the eldest daughter of eight children of Jim and Marion Forrest. She was raised in Stoneham and spent her summers by Long Pond in Wellfleet. She remained very close with and is survived by her treasured siblings, MaryEllen Dion of Lebanon, NH, Jane Franke of Wellfleet, Deborah Hopkins of Eastham, and Kevin Forrest of Babb, Montana, predeceased by James Forrest of Monteverde, Costa Rica, Susan Johnson of Wellfleet, and Tim Forrest of Boston. Kathy Graduated from Catherine Labore Nursing School in 1964, earned her Masters of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University in 1982. She was the charge nurse in the Levine Cardiac Unit at the Peter Bent Brigham for many years. Kathy continued her career in cardiac research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and spent several years in Electrophysiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She spent the remainder of her career as a Nursing Instructor at Lawrence Memorial Hospital before retiring to Wellfleet in 2000. Kathy, Nana to her grandchildren, lived a full life and died as she lived, on her own terms. We felt her unending love at all times, but never expected too much sentiment. A no nonsense, ICU nurse, true to her convictions, her honesty delivered unvarnished truth. So fun to be around, this redhead, lived up to the high expectations that she had of herself. In the end, Kathy just got tired after many years of managing the chronic disease of Diabetes and let go. She will be sorely missed by her extended family and community of friends. Due to the pandemic, there will be a private family graveside service and a future celebration of her life once the horizons are clear.

Dear Connors Family, I am sorry for your loss. You are all in my heart and thoughts. As a friend of Greg and children and an acquaintance of Jen and family I crossed paths with Kathy on occasion over the years. It was apparent that she lived her life with positivity and joy! Kathy was a wonderful Sister in law and friend. We shared so many memories over the years and we will miss her greatly. She was intelligent, interesting and could always be counted on for that special perspective she brought to many issues. We are very sorry her loving family had to lose her and happy that she got to spend her last days with them.

My condolences to John and the family. Kathy and I go back to the summer of 1962 when we worked at the old First National on Rte. 6. Although my family always went to Long Pond, we had never met until then. It was so much more fun to swim right off the Forrest back yard. My aunt approved because her family went to Our Lady of Lourdes church like we did. I will miss running into Kathy at museum events and just seeing her walking along Long Pond Rd. with John.

I will alway cherish the wonderfully fun memories at the Cape and in Stoneham visiting the “cousins” . Kathy being the oldest and wisest girl of the two tribes never failed to keep us in line and entertained with her huge personality! She will be missed and I am sorry for your loss. Love to all, Joyce

Today I have a heavy heart! The Connors and Forrest family have been so special to me for years, especially the early years when we all lived so fun loving and care free on the pond. I will remember Kathy’s charm and great sense of humor. Like a second mother in many ways. Her love shined through so brightly through her children, who are so dear to me also. What a special person to know. Much love to friends of Kathy and her family. My sincerest condolences, love always, Kyle and Stephanie.
