Maria Dorothea Andrews

Maria D. (Veara) Andrews of Provincetown died on June 2, 2025 at Cape Cod Hospital at the age of 67. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Clotilda “Tillie” (Steele) Veara and the beloved wife of Michael J. Andrews with whom she shared 35 years of marriage. Maria grew up in Truro and attended Truro Central School. She graduated from Provincetown High School in 1976.

Maria was a loving, kind woman with a friendly personality and a wonderful sense of humor who liked going on drives and spending time with her husband. She enjoyed reading on her Kindle and solving word search and other puzzles. She taught catechism classes at St. Peter’s Church for a number of years. Maria enjoyed trying different foods and also made fabulous kale soup.

Before her retirement, Maria worked at various Provincetown businesses including Adams Pharmacy, Hopkins Cleaners, The Patrician and the Tele-Rental video store where her courtship with Mike began. Her favorite job was working as a pharmacy technician at Stop & Shop.

In addition to her husband, Maria is survived by her brother Manuel Veara of Hartland, ME, and his partner Michele Kent-Webber of St. Albans, ME, as well as her sisters-and-brothers-in-law, Victoria and Paul Mendes of Provincetown, Deborah and John McGonnell of Onset, and David Andrews and Charles Edwards of Arlington, VA.

She is also survived by her uncle Francis Veara and cousin Jennifer Davis, her nephews, Manuel H. Veara and his partner Loagyn Moore, Adam Mendes and Joshua Mendes, her aunts, Nancy Veara, Rosie Mullen and Joann Castricum and her husband Peter, and cousins Patty Foster, Christopher Veara and his wife Stephanie, and Francis Davis.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 11AM in St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown, MA. Her burial will be private.
