Mary Lambrou died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Scituate, MA. in 1931 where her father was stationed in the Coast Guard, eventually transferring to Provincetown where he and his wife Helen raised their family. Mary graduated from Provincetown High School in 1949 and met and married her husband John Lambrou Jr. in 1950. John served in the Army during the Korean war, returning home to his family where he and Mary raised six children.
Loving her High School years as a cheerleader, class secretary, and member of the Long Pointer committee. She cherished her classmates, looking forward to many class reunions which lasted into their 80's. We fondly remember their class gatherings for a flipper breakfast cooked by Brother and Elenor Costa, while their laughter and reminiscing echoed through the house. Then enjoying beach rides, blessing of the fleet, dancing, dinner, and just being with each other.
Mary's first job was babysitting Jerry Costa who she adored. She later went on to work as a secretary at the Chrysler Garage for Chris Marcey. During the 60's she began working for Dr. Daniel Heibert and his wife Emily as a secretary and personal assistant until their passing. She continued working for their daughter Ruth Heibert at Captain Jack's Wharf and the Skiff where she met so many wonderful people that became lifelong friends. She worked for the Heibert family for over 60 years.
Mary was devoted to her family, friends, and community. For over 30 years you may remember Mary's smile as you went to cast your vote at the polls or Town Meeting. She helped organize old town records, volunteered for meals on wheels, and the senior center, which she loved. She also dedicated her time as Bluebird/Campfire leader, Den mother, hockey Mom, and Galeforce riding stable Mom.
Mary faithfully attended St. Peters Apostle Church throughout her lifetime. She loved singing in the Choir especially during the holidays.
Mary's heart was the happiest spending time with her family during the holidays and special occasions. She cherished watching her Grandchildren and Great- Grandchildren grow and loved their visits. She enjoyed traveling, going to the beaches or driving out to Hatches Harbor with her husband and family, swimming and reading a good book. "Sunsets were her favorites." She also loved a drive through town telling stories of the past along the way. Often our brother Paul faithfully took her exploring the backroads on the cape, as she did with us long ago. Some of her favorite things were the Lighting of the Monument, Parades, picking blueberries, beach plums, and cranberries or walking downtown and sitting on the benches with her best friend Dotty.
Her home was her sanctuary sitting in her favorite comfy chair reading and watching the birds and wildlife out her front window. Mary will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her love, generosity, and kindness that touched so many lives.
She is survived by her brother Albert Silva and wife Nancy of Truro.
