Nina Murphy Anderson passed away in Wellfleet, MA on March 2, 2025. She was born and grew up in Longmeadow, MA, and attended MacDuffie School and Mount Holyoke College. She adored her time at these schools and remained best friends with her classmates throughout her life. In 1956, while working at the CIA, she met the love of her life, Calvin. They were married that same year and spent 62 wonderful years together.
She will be remembered by her children as someone who always found the time to be in the stands during their varied activities. She was an avid reader and very involved in politics, and enjoyed working for Rep. Stewart B. McKinney (CT) and Rep. James Cobey (NC) in constituent services. When Nina and Cal “retired” to Cape Cod, she spent her time volunteering for many organizations, including the St. Vincent DePaul Society, literacy training, Meals on Wheels, Friends of the Library and the Wellfleet Historical Society. Nina was very active in Our Lady of Lourdes and enjoyed the coffee hours with friends. She loved the beach and throughout the years would spend her summer days under an umbrella by the ocean.
Nina is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin. She will be fondly remembered by her children, Ted and his partner, Tomomi, Britt, and Eric and his wife, Maria, and her three grandchildren, Eilish and her fiancé Joel, Kerstin, and Charlie.
The family would like to express their endless gratitude to wonderful group of strong women who took care of her for the past five years: Kelly, Floran, Mitzi, and Donna (the 4-3-2-1 Group), and Janet, Dainte, Steph and Linda. They also want to thank all the nurses from Beacon Hospice, who made the end so simple and peaceful.
In lieu of flowers her children ask that a donation be made to Society of St. Vincent De Paul Cape & Islands (https://www.svdpcapecod.com/donate ), Meals on Wheels/Elder Services of the Cape & Islands (https://escci.org/donate ), or the Wellfleet Historical Society & Museum (https://www.wellfleethistoricalsociety.org/checkout/donate).
Nina’s family and friends will celebrate her life at a future date in Wellfleet.
