IN THE CARE OF

Nickerson Funeral Home

Susan Stolberg Howe, 69 years old, of Truro, MA died September, 30, 2022. She was born in Baltimore, MD in 1952 along with her twin sister Carol Stolberg. Susan graduated from Syracuse University and received a degree in Psychology. She went on to obtain a Master’s degree from Boston University as a Rehabilitation Counselor. Susan was the daughter of Marvin and Arlene Stolberg. She was married to Jeffrey Howe and the mother of two children, Jenna and Adam.

Susan raised her children in Belmont MA and spent many summers in Truro, MA before becoming a fulltime resident. Prior to raising her family she worked for many years at Tufts, New England Medical Center.

She was passionate about music, playing the guitar and piano. Susan sang songs with preschoolers, taught guitar lessons, and shared her love of music with her children. She loved attending the opera with her daughter, Jenna, and their friend Katy. In Truro she spent time in her garden and taking pictures of people and beautiful landscapes. When elsewhere, she loved to travel with friends and had a specific love of Paris.

Susan became involved in the community working as a disabilities advocate and the President of the Truro Historical Society. Living in Truro, she immediately felt welcomed, and became a huge presence advocating for the community she loved. Susan helped to renovate a Truro playground and make it accessible to people of all abilities. She pushed for repairs at the museum honoring Truro’s history. She encouraged residents and businesses to display blue lights to raise awareness about autism. Susan believed Truro should remain rural.

Susan was frequently found walking her dog, Sprite, along Longnook and Corn Hill beaches. She was loved by all and spent many happy days sharing her life in Truro with friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all of the people who loved her.

Memorial service to be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Truro Historical Society or a charity of your choice.
