Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her warmth, quiet strength, and deep love for her family. She passed peacefully in her home, which she loved deeply, surrounded by the family she had created and cherished.
She is survived by her loving husband and “lovie” of 62 years, Emanuel "Sonny" Silvia; her children David Emanuel Silvia of Truro, MA, Michael Joseph Silvia and his wife Melissa of Medford, MA, Peter Harris Silvia of Medford, MA, Jenny Leigh Smith and her husband Glen of Eastham MA; her 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and her brother Wright Harris. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph Harris Jr. and Ruth Leigh Harris Griswold, and her son, Timothy Edward Silvia.
Sonny and Sue met in August of 1962, were engaged by September 18th, only a month later, and were married the following April. From the moment they met, they were each other’s lovie — a deep bond that never changed through 62 years of shared life, love, and devotion.
Sue will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle spirit, and the comfort and joy she brought to everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and steady presence will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. A deep lover of nature, Sue enjoyed spending time watching her birds and was often called an animal whisperer. She had a rare gift of drawing everyone and everything toward her. Her light and laughter glowed loudly throughout her life, bringing joy and comfort to all who knew her.
In keeping with Sue’s wishes, no services are planned. Her family invites those who knew her to remember her in their own way and hold her in their hearts.
