William (Bill) Shaw, 77, “just a poor kid from Newark”. Bill was born October 17, 1934 in Newark, NJ and died of cancer on September 13, 2012. He leaves his loving wife and best friend of 55 years Janine Shaw, two wonderful, grown, children Carole and Marc Shaw and his much loved grandson Lucas Shaw. Bill was educated in Kearny, NJ, Hamden, CT, Boston, MA and Hanover, MA. He was also a Korean War veteran. He worked most of his 32 year career at General Foods Corporation where he started in Sales, moved to Headquarters in Sales Management, Product Management, and a variety of Marketing Services disciplines where he built the companies consumer promotion function. Bill introduced direct marketing and sports marketing, and managed the new packaging design for Maxwell House Coffee’s 100th anniversary. He was also a PMAA board member. Bill retired to open his own “little” marketing consulting business and taught part time at Northeastern University Graduate School of Business, and was a dedicated tennis player.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Nickerson Funeral Home, 340 Main St, Wellfleet, MA, followed by a gathering at the Chequessett Country Club in Wellfleet. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 10:00am at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Wellfleet, MA. A memorial “get together” over beverages and light snacks for all of his friends and acquaintances will follow at the Wicked Oyster in Wellfleet.
