Jaydene Ruth Thomas, our loving Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma passed away on March 22, 2020, at age of 86. She was born on August 3, 1933 in Alhambra, California to Valton Bray and Ruth Taylor and was the eldest of eight children. In 1955 she met and married the love of her life, Allen Dee Thomas, who proceeded her in death. They spent 57 years in the San Gabriel Valley raising 4 children, 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mom was an Irish girl through and through – impish, sassy, and with a great abundance of tenacity of purpose. She loved to teach, learn, and provide opportunities to others to grow. She wanted her children to experience life. Though she possessed those incredible qualities, there are three things that best would describe Mom’s many wonderful attributes: she was creative, had great faith, and she loved her family. Mom’s artistic creativity was found in just about everything she ever did – from an illustrated cutout in a Sunday School lesson to her skill at cake decorating and incredible oil painting skills. Her faith was unshakeable, even up to the end of her life, she put her trust in the hand of the Lord and worked to align her will with His. Her faith impacted her family, and as such has had an impact on hundreds of lives coming to know their Savior’s love. What she loved the most was to be around her family and to hear of their successes, that was what made her truly happy. These, and many more, attributes will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. We LOVE you Mom!

Jaydene is survived by her children Allen Jr. (ALeeca), Vallen (Wendy), Starene (Rob), Dorene, and their families; along with her five sisters and two brothers.

The family will hold a small graveside service. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park – Covina Hills. With the desire to be sensitive to the current health outbreak, the family will be planning a memorial service at a later date to celebrate Jaydene’s incredible life. That memorial will be announced via social media.

In lieu of flowers, please consider helping someone in your local community who might be suffering at this difficult time.

Jaydene was my sister for 83 years. (She was 86.) We shared many memories, We dig ti China, made mud pies, hunted polywogs, made scooters , rubber guns, and more, as we got older shared hours about our babies, As time moved on the loss of our hubby's, our worries, concerns, our happy times, even our hurts threw our lifes. We talked almost everyday on the phone. I visited almost every time I could. Now I keep wanting to call and share things. I miss her deeply. ☘⚘✝️💔

We are deeply saddened to learn of Jaydene's passing. We have known and loved Jaydene for many years. We have many treasured memories of the friendship we've shared with the Thomas family; years of sharing family experiences at the Las Flores Ward, Paul's being Home Teacher to the family for a time, Vallen's and Drew's close friendship, and much much more. We will miss her being with us here in this earthly life, and we look forward to seeing once again in an eternal life to come. Our thoughts and prayers are with Vallen and Wendy, Starene and Rob, Allen D., Dorene, and all of Jaydene's loving family. May the Lord guide and comfort us all.

We send our love,

Paul and Sharon

Jaydeen was my first best friend who was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. She was beautiful inside as well as outside. She was the most loyal and faithful friend anyone could have. She was filled with love and kindness and compassion. The most important thing in her life was her family. Her children and grandchildren were top priorities in her life, she wanted to see them grow and develop in all areas of their lives and most importantly to know their Savior Jesus Christ and their heavenly father. She was a very strong and devout woman. I love her very much she will always be my eternal friend forever and I love all of her children .

I will always remember her as a Sister that had a great smile and enjoyed being wherever she was. She had an extremely dedicated testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a light to all of us in the Huntington Ward.

I have a lot of great memories of my big sister . One that stand's out the most is when I was 15 and she and big Allen took me to the Hollywood palladium and I got to dance with Lawrence welk we had such a great time . She always made me laugh . One time she was boiling eggs and forgot them and they blew up on the ceiling , I was laughing so hard, needless to say she wasn't laughing. I will miss her dearly 💔😪
