Abdulai Deffie passed away peacefully with his family at his side on June 25, 2019 at Centenary Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marie, his children Yewa Deffie, Abdul Deffie, and daughter-in-law Kara Harris, and his grandchildren Zidane, Tyson, and Zari. He is also survived by his mother Mamie Wuyah Koroma and his many siblings in Canada and Sierra Leone. He will be missed by a large extended family, friends, the Knights of Columbus, and his Bo School Alumni.
He rejoins in eternity his father Momo Deffie, his grandmother Yewa Salia and his grandfather Sallu Koroma.
He was passionate about family, travelling, and music. He was devoted to his work as a health and safety research scientist.
Visitation for Abdul will take place at the Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Avenue East Scarborough, on Friday July 19, 2019 from 2 - 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Martin De Porres Church, 4179 Lawrence Avenue East Scarborough, on Saturday July 20, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Abdul's memory can be made to his foundation, Abdulai and Marie Deffie Learning Resource Centre Sierra Leone.
