On March 12th, 2024, Barbara Agnus Barnes Askew, daughter of the late James and Francis Barnes, loving wife, mother of the late Sandra Urechko, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home in Scarborough, Ontario. "Barbie" is survived by her loving husband Jan of 42 years, her children Barbara and Richard and grandchildren Tianna, Alysia and Katrina, as well as her four great grandchildren.
Barbie was known as a strong, willful woman with a kind and generous heart. She spoke her mind with confidence and passion. She loved her family deeply and expressed this love frequently. Barbie appreciated the simple things in life, such as cooking for her family, watching films and listening to her favourite song "The Best" by Tina Turner.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family and always remembered in their hearts.
We are sincerely grateful to the many friends and extended family who have given us support and comfort during this time of loss.
Services for Barbara will be held on Thursday March 14th, 2024 from 5-8 pm at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 4115 Lawrence Ave E, West Hill, ON M1E 2S2
