With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Cecil “Cec” Alleyne on January 7, 2012.
He is survived by his loving wife Jean, his children Roger (Sophia) and Andrea (Stephen) Matthews and was the proud grandfather of Annika Matthews and Jaiden and Laila Alleyne. His loss is deeply felt by siblings Esmay, Eustace (Lamar), Junior, Keith (Merlene), Jefferson and Sylvester Alleyne , Clevere (Esther) Fenty and Glendeane (Orman) Lythcott. He was predeceased by his parents, Hillary and Geraldine and sister Norma Best.
Cecil was a beloved uncle to Anderson, Tamara, Karen, Jennifer, Janae, Tanya and Terri-Lynn Alleyne, Susan Packer, Jonathan and Matthew Fenty, Cheryl Ann, Carol-Ann and Andrew Lythcott.
He was brother-in-law to Maude and Mitchell Hampden and “Uncle Cec” to Kimberley Blackwood and Danielle, Kaylee and Kalani Hampden.
Cecil will be missed by his extended family, the many friends he made abroad, in his neighborhood and during his 24 year tenure in the Toronto Star’s composing room.
Cecil’s family will be receiving visitors on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home (4115 Lawrence Ave. E., Scarborough) from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 9 PM. Services will be held at Rosewood Church of The Nazarene on Wednesday, January 16, 2013(657 Milner Avenue, Scarborough) at 11 AM. Interment at Duffin Meadows Cemetery, 2505 Brock Road North, Pickering.
We would like to acknowledge Mr. Norman Dash for his selfless, tireless efforts in assisting the Alleyne family during this trying time.
