

“Coreen Hyacinth Warlock (aka Renee), 87, widow of Scarborough, Ontario Canada takes her Heavenly rest on August 4, 2025. was born on October 1, 1937, in Montego Bay, Jamaica, as Coreen Hyacinth Scarlett to the late Charles Scarlett and Kathleen Hutchinson. She lost her mother as a child and was raised by her grandmother, Amanda Wallace and aunt, Ettie.
She grew up as a very quiet, soft-spoken, feisty, comical and busy child who was loved by many. She dedicated her life to God at an early age and attended the Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed singing, especially her favourite hymn, ‘Oh Lord I Am Not Worthy’ which gave her peace and the reassurance that even though she’s not worthy, Jesus is always with her.
She worked at the Mount Alvernia Convent for many years before migrating to Canada in 1993 to be with her daughter, Maria and grandson, Segun. She loved all her children, however, she shared a bond with Maria that was inseparable. They had a remarkable mother-daughter relationship and a deep love for each other. They were always together, being adventurous and acting like best friends.
She earned her Cashier Certification with the North York Board of Education in 1994. She also earned a certification in Dining Room and Dietary Aide, after which she gained employment with Taylor/Thompson House as a Dietary Aide. She loved her job and worked for seven years and was never late. The staff enjoyed working with her because it was more lively when she’s at work. Yes, she was very humorous. There was never a dull moment when she was present. She retired in 2002 and was missed by everyone.
She was hard-working and enjoyed taking care of her children, cooking, cleaning and spending time with her children and family members. She is survived by children Michael, Maria, Dennis, Merle, Valerie, Sandra, Wayne, Charmaine and Donat ‘aka Junior.’ 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; brothers, Bernard and Trevor; sister Effy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix, parents and son Everton; brother, Alphonso; sister, Merdelyn “aka Juney” and Daphne.
Visitation will be held on August 23, 2025, from 1:00 - 4:00 PM, at the Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave East, Scarborough.
