Born in Toronto on April16, 1935 Dennis, known as Denny or Den, was the youngest of 5 children. An older sister Eileen, brothers Donald and Gerry and Doug. Denny’s Twin.
Denny “hated fuss” and it seemed that his most contented times were those that were the simplest, yet enjoyable. Walks in the park or at the beach, pottering in the garden and playing golf with his grandsons Kyle and Adam and the weekly Bowling League. The winter hobbies took up any free time – jigsaw Puzzles – woodcarving – and the joy of seeing the delight of those who purchased a carving.
Marrying Rita on May 9, 1959, the couple made numerous trips to England to visit Rita’s parents, relatives and friends. When their daughter, Kim, was born the trio alternated trips with visits from her parents every year. These were also the times for Denny to reminisce about his previous 6 month backpacking trip prior to meeting Rita. He indeed became an “adopted Brit.” Denny and Rita enjoyed many other travels together through the UK and Europe. Giving them many wonderful experiences and stories to share from all the places they saw and wonderful people the met.
As every parent and grandparent knows, having children and grandchildren are one of God’s greatest blessings. No matter what transpires in life, the love for and of children and grandchildren cannot be surpassed. This was the same for Denny. He very much loved his daughter Kim and was proud of her every accomplishment. Kyle and Adam, his grandsons brought Denny tremendous joy and were the light of his life.
Denny was a kind, loving and generous soul never “wanting a fuss” but always there for his family and loved ones. Denny will be remembered fondly, he will be loved and he will be missed.
