Eva Maria Pick was born in Germany on September 1st, 1924. Before the onset of World War 11, she was sent to Ireland for safety where she remained until she emigrated to Canada in 1955. Initially life was very hard for her while she struggled through various social issues until her astounding numerical abilities were finally recognized by a man who headed up the accounts department at Toronto General Hospital. Working long hours and many years there, she was able to fund her extensive travels around the world until her early eighties. Eva did not marry or have children but made a life altering decision to follow Jesus about eight years ago and spent her remaining years at peace with God and enjoying rich fellowship with like minded Christians. She spent five years living in a retirement lodge until she fell in September 2016 and broke her hip. Unfortunately her physical health deteriorated following her operation and the last three months were spent in a long term care home where she became progressively weaker. Last week she developed a respiratory infection but passed quite peacefully on Saturday evening around 7pm.
A service of remembrance will be held at the Giffen-Mack Funeral Home 4115 Lawrence Ave. E. at noon on Wednesday, March 22nd. Visitation will be for one hour prior to this. Lunch will be served following the service. Cremation will be later.
