I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. King on a single occasion, although I had heard much of her through Barry.  She was warm, welcoming and gentle. We chatted as if she had known me for years and I left feeling the warmth of her embrace and spirit. I will remember her fondly, as I imagine many will.


The best way I can describe Helen would be like an Energizer Bunny packed into a four foot something frame, with an insatiable zest for life(and a fine cup of tea), an unwavering love and dedication to her husband Gene, and an enormous sense of pride and gratitude for her children Barry and Tracey, her family, and her friends both near and far.
 Where there was Helen, Gene was never far behind, unless Helen was doing last minute touch ups to her makeup. They had a bond that needed no words: it just such a beautiful gift. Helen often shared stories of Barrys entrepreneurial skills and his love of money and all things nostalgia from an early age. Tracey shared Helens passion for reading, and every day they swapped stories about fashion, history, celebrity, love, life and food, conversing more like best friends than mother/ daughter. 
  Against all odds, Helen defied the medical system with a tenacity, courage and grace that was nothing short of admirable. I believe she had in fact found the eternal fountain of youth: I'm convinced it's somewhere between Lisa Cosmetics, Shreelans hair salon and the Lindt Chocolate Store.
I will miss you dearly my friend.

I have spent the last couple of weeks since Helen’s passing trying to find the right words to honour her memory.
Helen was my sister (well she really was my sister-in-law, but we always said we were sisters) and I miss her so very much.
I miss the long weekly phone calls when we solved the problems of the world, reminisced etc. Family meant so much to Helen and she always wanted to know how we were all doing.
I will miss her trips to the Island, she loved being on the West Coast, I miss those endless cups of tea “teabag on the side, hold the milk please”  
She loved to travel, read, watch the news and most of all Gene, Barry & Tracey.
I admire her tenacity to overcome all her medical issues and still do the things she loved.
Simply put, I love you Helen and I miss you.
RIP knowing you left us all with wonderful memories.

I was so sadden today her of my dearest cousin Helen.

I was about 14 years old when Helen came to Canada .  Helen came and stayed with my mother and myself until she could find her own accommodations.

Then Helen was very lucky she met Eugene and they had a wonderful 61 years together.

Helen, Eugene and myself use to go out for lunch and the theatre together we had lots of good times together.

Helen had more than her share of health problems and always manage to come out on top but this was too much for her to handle and now she’s finally at peace.

Helen was a lovely person and lots of fun to be with I will miss her she will always be in my heart.

Sadly miss but always remembered.

You will be missed Auntie Helen.  I will miss your love of family, travel, food, dry wit and a good sale.  We have lots of good memories of family trips and events through the years.  Was always amazed how you managed to overcome health concerns and live life to the fullest.  Love you,   Mwwaa.  XX  

Just finished looking at all the wonderful pictures that have been posted of Helen and the family....so precious! Thanks for sharing them. They brought back so many great memories.

Helen and I have been friends since I arrived in Canada in 1959.  I admired her courage in the face of many health challenges.  I will miss her terribly.

In loving memory of my mother Helen.  She was married to my father Eugene for 61 years.  They enjoyed travelling, going to the theatres and dining out.  My mother loved to read and she definitely enjoyed shopping.  Most of all though, my mother loved her family and was always there for all of us.
She was loved and she will be missed.

Will truly miss Helen’s positive outlook on life, despite the numerous health challenges she faced. A wonderful example of living each day to its fullest!  Hoping you and Karen have found each other, and are enjoying a cup of tea together.  With much love....
