Helen was born in Trenton, Ontario on December 1, 1929. Tragically, at the age of 14, her parents died one day apart after being in a car accident. She married Fredrick R. Mark on Dec. 31, 1949. They shared 50 wonderful years together. Helen worked as a Directory Assistance Operator at Bell Canada for 35 years, and retired in 1985.
In her younger years, she was busy raising her two sons, Steve and Gord. She taught Sunday School at Mount Pleasant Road Baptist Church, enjoyed travelling the world and often used her gifts of hospitality while entertaining friends and family in their home at 5 Wigmore Drive.
Helen was a compassionate person who devoted many years to caring for Fred after he was injured in a workplace accident. She also nursed her gravely ill mother-in-law, her elderly Aunt Luella and her brother-in-law Ron without a complaint.
She enjoyed volunteering with the Mission MATE for several years until she was no longer physically able to. She was a very generous individual who gave to many charities over the years. She sometimes went without so others would be taken care of.
She loved old hymns, singing in the Wexford Warblers Choir and even took up piano lessons for a couple of years to enhance her love of music. She loved to read, bake, and spend precious time with her many friends who were each very special to her. She cherished her five grandsons who all have very fond memories of her. Her great-grandchildren were very special to her. She often commented on how God had truly blessed her life in so many ways.
Although she hoped to live to see this Christmas and have just a little more time with her loved ones and friends, she knew God's ways are perfect and He would take her at just the right time. On the evening of December 9, she went to be with her Lord and is now with her loved ones who went on before her.
