May she find her eternal peace in the arms of her dear husband Archie and all of the wonderful friends and family whom she has lost along the way.
Always one to make an entrance, Joanne came into this world on February 29th 1952. Born to Lorne and Theresa Burton in Toronto, the family moved to Waterloo in 1957 before settling in Kitchener in 1966. It was here Joanne would grow to attend Laurier university and teacher’s college.
She would move on to have a fulfilling 30-year career with the Toronto Catholic School board where she was cherished by students and colleagues alike. She brought the passion and joy she felt for life into the classroom and help spread this joy through her love her music theatre with various productions and concerts.
Outside of the classroom, Joanne 's love of music was echoed in various community stage productions, choirs and of course karaoke.
In Toronto she would meet the love of her life Archie McLachlan. Bonding over this mutual love of music, they would go on to create a life together in a loving marriage which spanned 30 years. A life full of laughing children, travel and undeniable love.
Joanne had a soft spot for the underdog. Be it the numerous children who found a safe haven in her or the countless rescue animals she welcomed into her home. Her kind nature and giving soul found comfort in providing for others, and through this giving she found peace.
