Joy was born May 13,1943 in Liverpool, UK at a time of desolation and shortages following air raids in 1941 that had damaged the family home. One of three children of William “Skip” Morgan (local well-respected football skipper) and her mother Mary Morgan (dedicated church volunteer at St. Francis de Sales, Walton), Joy was the youngest of three children with older brother Frank and sister Barbara.
Joy married Peter Morrison at age 19 and gave birth to Gary Morrison at age 21. She remarried to Jim Nesbitt in 1980 at age 37 and moved to Canada that year. Throughout her adult life in Liverpool and Canada Joy worked in insurance taking great pride in her career working in downtown Toronto to support her family.
Her generous nature, easy laugh and fun-loving outlook on life made Joy many friends and fun to be around. Her advice to young couples: look after each other.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frank and her sister Barb, and her former husband Peter Morrison. She is survived by her husband Jim Nesbitt and son Gary Morrison (spouse Valeria) and her beloved grandchildren Damian Morrison and Mark Morrison.
Joy had battled dementia, lung cancer and other difficult health conditions for the last few years and has now found the peace she needed.
Her funeral was on January 11 in Toronto. If desired, the family suggests you visit your local church and light a candle for Joy. And look after each other.
