Peacefully after a lengthy illness on February 15, 2012 in her 79th year. She is survived by her loving husband John P. Gorman, her dear children Wendy McCormack (Bernard), and Norine Flynn (Joseph), her loving grandchildren Megan & Ashley McCormack and Jeremy and Aaron Flynn. Treasured sister to Barbara Turner and the late Elaine Zinck. She will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Lois was born in East York. She attended R.H. McGregor Public School and East York Collegiate. When she graduated from East York Collegiate she went on to take her Nursing Training at the Toronto East General Hospital. Immediately after training she left for Moose Factory Indian and Eskimo Hospital for a time before she went to Prince Rupert General Hospital in B.C. where she made life time friends. Lois went on to work part time nights at Toronto East General Hospital from 1975 to 1993 when she retired. She also volunteered at Centenary Hospital since 1991 in D.S.U. Lois has been at Scarborough Bluffs United Church since 1961 and was very active with the church, as a Social Convenor for many years, a Unit leader, U.C.W. Co-Ordinator, Bazaar Convenor, and paid numerous visits to Senior Relatives in the Nursing Homes.
The family wishes to extend deep gratitude for the special care Lois received form Spectrum Healthcare, V.O.N., Dr. Perry, Julie and team.
Family and friends may gather at the Giffen-Mack Scarborough Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 4115 Lawrence Ave. E., West Hill (416) 281-6800 on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Scarborough Bluffs United Church, 3739 Kingston Road, Scarborough (parking behind church) on Wednesday at 1pm. Cremation.
