Passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2021 in Scarborough at the age of 93. She will be forever loved and missed by her husband of 62 years Aloysius “Al”. Loving mother to Eugene (Laura), Liam, Vincent (Bernie) and Sheila (Glenn). Beloved grandmother of Megan, Sarah, Emma, Brendan and Maya. Born on December 25th, 1928 in Forgney, Co Longford, Ireland to Mary (nee Ward) and William McCormack. She was the younger sister of John Joe and the older sister to Monica, Theresa and Aidan.
As so many others of that time in Ireland had done, she left the family home as a young woman to find her future overseas. She studied nursing in England and even worked in Ottawa for a while before returning to England where she met her husband before they eventually settled in Canada to raise their family. In her heart she never really left Ireland and spent her life relying on her faith and trust in God to love and find the best in everybody she met.
Family and friends are welcome to gather at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 4115 Lawrence Ave East, West Hill, ON, on Thursday January 6, 2022 from 2 pm – 4 pm. Proof of full vaccination, along with government issued ID, are mandatory to attend indoor funeral services for those age 12 and older. Masks are required. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas More Church, 2234 Ellesmere Rd, Scarborough on Friday January 7, 2022 at 11 am. Ita will be laid to rest at St Joseph’s Cemetery, Highland Creek.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St Vincent De Paul Society would be appreciated.
